I just tried the new Steam UI (not on a TV, though), and it seems ok for a beta, but nothing really big (yet). Even though I sometimes hook up my laptop to my TV, it is still a little hassle to do, compared to just powering up a console. However, I think it is going to be more and more attractive to use your computer on a big (television) screen.
